Wednesday

Day 6 - July 11, 2012

Great progress happening at the wall each day as the wall gets filled in and flowers start emerging.

Come visit us Monday through Thursday from 8:00am - 2:00pm!

Tuesday

Day 5 - July 10, 2012

Students keep up the great work and keep filling in the bright colors.  Once color is added people coming by the Charity Guild are excited to see what is being painted and the students can start to see the impact the mural will have on people every day.  Some shading and rendering is already popping up on the wall making the flowers come to life!

Monday

Day 4 - July 9, 2012

TIME TO COLOR

After finishing up the sketch it's time to add some color to the wall.  Students fill in areas with bright paint colors to cover the primer and start to give shape to the flowers.

Thursday

Day 3 - July 5, 2012

 SKETCHING

After all of the hard work prepping the wall, it's on to all of the fun.  Drawing and painting!

Students help organize and familiarize themselves with the mural design and sketch.  After choosing a section of the wall they are off to sketch.  After meetings with The Charity Guild the chosen theme was a garden with bright flowers.  Students follow the design created by the artist, working with coordinates and fractions to replicate the sketch.

Tuesday

Day 2 - July 3, 2012

After finishing priming the wall it was time to measure and grid.  Teamwork makes all the difference!

Monday

Mural Team 2012

It's summer time and you know what that means... a new mural!

This year we have new and familiar faces on the mural team. Veterans Keisha and Carmen are back for their second year of the Summer of Work and Learning on the mural team. They will be helping artist Laura DeDonato and team leader Nanette Shea guide the newcomers throughout the mural process.

The location for this year's mural is at The Charity Guild at 501 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301. Come check out our work!

Day 1 - PRIME TIME

After some weeding, it was time to start painting! The students began priming the wall, which had already been scraped, sanded and cleaned. The Laura and Nan patched holes in the concrete wall while students cut and rolled the 200ft long wall.
